WNAX: Farm Leader Encouraged Congressman Working To Foster Ag Trade With Cuba

Kansas Congressman Roger Marshall met with Cuba’s President this week and talked about trade opportunities between Cuba and the United States. Marshall says the U.S. can and should be Cuba’s number one supplier of commodities like sorghum, soy, wheat and corn.

South Dakota Farmers Union President Doug Sombke is encouraged he’s calling for that and met with Cuba’s leader. He says additional market opportunities like with Cuba are positive for U.S. farmers who’ve been experiencing an economic decline.

Tuesday’s exhibition game between Major League Baseball’s Tampa Bay Rays and the Cuban National Team in Havana, Cuba was a historic moment between two countries that have been foes for decades.With President Obama on hand to watch the game, relations between the two countries are clearly on the mend.
