Engage Cuba was thrilled to join republican Congressman Rick Crawford from Arkansas on a nationwide call to answer questions from business leaders and farmers on doing business in Cuba. It was clear from the call that there is overwhelming bipartisan support both within the U.S. business community and across the U.S. agribusiness for lifting the failed embargo on Cuba.
Current U.S. restrictions on offering private credit for the sale agricultural commodities to Cuba has put American farmers at a huge competitive disadvantage in Cuba's $2 billion agricultural import market. Congressman Rick Crawford has been a champion on leveling the playing field and making it easier for farmers to export to Cuba. His bipartisan legislation, the Cuba Agricultural Exports Act, would remove restrictions on extending credit to sell food to Cuba.
