Engage Cuba Welcomes Pope Francis' Visit to Cuba and the U.S.

Moments ago, Pope Francis landed in Havana to begin his historic trip to Cuba and the U.S.

The Pope's visit to Cuba followed by his visit to the United States underscores our common humanity, the power of forgiveness, and the need for both governments and the UN to once and for all look toward a new debate on Cuba. One that doesn't look backward but rather focuses on the possibilities of our new relationship to the benefit of both countries.

For more about what we're anticipating during the Pope's visit, you can read our piece titled 6 Things We Hope to See on the Pope's Cuba-U.S. Trip on The Huffington Post.

We at Engage Cuba are deeply grateful to Pope Francis and the Catholic Church for their leadership to support the healing between the people of Cuba and the United States. Pope Francis' visit to Cuba is a testament to the power of engagement. We wish him a blessed and productive trip.
