Prensa Latina: US Coalition Deplores Trump's Announcement on Cuba

Prensa Latina

Washington, Jun 15 (Prensa Latina) The Engage Cuba coalition condemned today President Donald Trump''s announcement of new restrictions on US travel to and trade with Cuba.

James Williams, president of the coalition of US companies, organizations and local leaders that call for lifting the US economic, commercial and financial blockade against Cuba, said that this policy was clearly written by people who have never been to Cuba, at least not in this century.

He said that it is crazy to think that after 55 years of failure, the isolation policy will produce results, while pointing out the negative impact that travel restrictions will have on the Cuban private sector and population.

He also said that the policy is a betrayal of the United States first agenda that Trump promoted during his campaign, including regulations that will damage the creation of jobs in the United States.

He referred to the fact that Senator Marco Rubio and Congressman Mario Diaz-Balart are known as the main responsible for Trump's stance, which will be announced tomorrow in Miami, Florida.
