JACKSON, Miss. —A group wants Mississippi to join other states in expanding trade opportunities with Cuba.

"It matters to Mississippi because it will be a huge benefit to its economy this is one of the largest agricultural exporters in the country right on the gulf you're talking about proximity is king when it comes to this type of trade. We have the highest quality product and were extremely close in proximity. We just need Congress to change these laws to allow us to compete," President of Engage Cuba James Williams said.

Williams said a senate committee passed four bills that will allow for increased travel and trade to the island.

The house will vote on those bills next week.
